In the Mykolaiv region, an indictment has been filed in court against a 15-year-old boy in a case involving the serious injury of a girl his age at a beach in Pervomaisk. According to the Pervomaisk District Police Department, investigators sent the indictment to the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office based on the evidence gathered, and the prosecutor’s office then referred it to court for consideration on the merits.

The incident took place on August 9 at one of the beaches in Pervomaisk. According to police, the teenager took an air pistol with him to the beach, fired several shots, and hit his 15-year-old acquaintance in the eye. We reported on the incident earlier.

Afterward, the boy threw the pistol into some bushes. Police found the weapon and seized it as evidence.

Investigators subsequently detained the minor in accordance with procedural requirements and notified him that he was suspected of committing an offense under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily harm. The court imposed a preventive measure of round-the-clock house arrest.

The teenager faces up to eight years in prison for causing grievous bodily harm. The court will decide on the charges and the boy’s further fate.

Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine guarantees the presumption of innocence: until a person’s guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a court’s guilty verdict, that person is presumed innocent and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment.
