September 12 in the history of the Korabelnyi District and Mykolaiv combined a celebration near the Palace of Culture, another “bomb threat” at the “Yantar” brewery, fires and black smoke over “Okean”, and later — a multi-million Danish grant for the reconstruction of the water supply. On September 12, 2025 around 500 Mykolaiv residents took part in a charity run in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
September 12, 2013: the Zhovtnevyi House of Culture held a celebration for district residents
The Zhovtnevyi District House of Culture, which later became the PK “Korabelnyi”, held an Open Day with a concert-and-games program. Contests and entertainments for children were organized on the square in front of the venue, and ensembles “Fantaziya”, “Vodogray”, “Ulybka”, “Zhemchuzhina”, the Indian dance school “Lakshmi” and the vocal studio “Zvezda” performed on stage. The building itself was transferred to the city in 2015, after which it received the name PK “Korabelnyi”.
September 12, 2016: a demand of 300,000 UAH over a “bomb threat” at the brewery
An anonymous letter about an alleged bombing of the “Yantar” brewery in the Korabelnyi District was sent to the police e-mail. The author demanded 300,000 UAH and threatened an explosion the next day. Employees of the enterprise were evacuated, and the buildings and territory were inspected by explosive ordnance disposal technicians, rescuers, canine units and police. For the brewery this was by no means the first such anonymous message that year.
September 12, 2021: thick black smoke hung over “Okean”
Residents of the Korabelnyi District complained about acrid smoke coming from the territory of the “Okean” plant. The enterprise explained that due to dry weather vegetation accidentally caught fire, and the plant’s fire service extinguished the blaze on its own. That same day rescuers recorded another 2 fires on open areas of the district — on Fontanna Street and in Balabanivskyi Lane, where more than 1 hectare burned in total.

The event was dedicated to supporting servicemen, the memory of fallen defenders and Ukrainians who remain in Russian captivity.
September 12, 2026: Mykolaiv — 237 years, but without mass celebrations
This year the City Day events are held on September 12, but due to the threat of Russian attacks the authorities gave up large-scale celebrations with big gatherings. The city council for that day restricted traffic on parts of the central streets, and small-scale cultural events were planned in city venues.
This day in Ukraine and the world
September 12, 1991 the Verkhovna Rada adopted the Law “On Succession of Ukraine”, which defined the legal foundations for the existence of an independent state after the declaration of independence. And on September 12, 1990 in Moscow representatives of West Germany (FRG), East Germany (GDR), the United States, the USSR, the United Kingdom and France signed the Treaty “Two Plus Four”, which opened the way for German reunification and the restoration of its full sovereignty.
That was September 12 for the Korabelnyi District: from a children’s celebration near the future PK “Korabelnyi” and threats to blow up “Yantar” to black smoke over “Okean” and one of the largest infrastructure grants for the district. And today this date once again brings us back to the main thing — Mykolaiv continues to live and mark its day even during the war.
