Zelensky warned airlines about the danger of flying in Russian airspace

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia’s airspace is becoming dangerous due to the ongoing war. With this warning, he addressed airlines, insurers and other participants in international air transport.

According to the president, this primarily concerns companies that continue to use Russia’s airspace and its key airports.

“The Russian sky is becoming completely dangerous,” said Volodymyr Zelensky.

At the same time, Zelensky stressed that Ukraine does not aim to create a threat to civil aviation and civilian aircraft. The danger, he said, is linked to an increase in the number of drones in Russia’s airspace. Airlines and insurance companies, the president noted, should take this into account.

Zelensky also said that, in his view, the Russian authorities are not properly reporting the existing risks. As a result, the war waged by Russia is effectively leading to the closure of its airspace.

“We in Ukraine do not want to lose innocent lives. That is why we warn our partners: the safe moments in Russia’s skies are over,” the president said.

Separately, the head of state addressed airlines that continue to operate flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities.

In addition, Zelensky urged ambassadors of foreign states who work in Ukraine and Russia to convey information about the risks to their governments.

The president said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and other relevant state bodies will provide international organizations with full information about the dangers in Russian airspace.

“There is no place for civil aviation among drones,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.

Recall that Moscow has begun protecting energy facilities from drones.
