At Mykolaiv Lyceum No. 58, located in Mykolaiv’s Korabelnyi district, the start of the new school year for the 11-A class was made special. Parents decided not to limit themselves to ordinary greetings: they said warm words to the children, danced, and prepared posters with well-wishes.

For the eleventh graders September 1, 2026 became the start of their final school year. So the parents tried to turn this day into a memory that will stay with the children even after graduation. The posters themselves became a special detail. The parents used cardboard from “Nova Poshta” as a base and wrote wishes to their children on them.

This format unintentionally resembles the cardboard posters that have recently been seen in the hands of Ukrainian youth during protest actions. Whether the parents intended any additional meaning in this – unknown. Maybe it is just a coincidence. Or perhaps it turned out to be a symbolic hint to future graduates: fly high, don’t be afraid of adult life, and always be ready to defend your own opinion.

The new 2026/2027 school year in Mykolaiv schools began on September 1. In total 45 schools in the city are operating in-person, 7 institutions – in a mixed format, and another 12 – remotely. For Mykolaiv Lyceum No. 58 the city authorities determined a mixed learning format. Lyceum No. 58 already has reason to be proud of its senior students: this summer four of its graduates received the maximum 200 points on the NMT.
