Through an increase in the number of rocket drones in Mykolaiv schools Mykolaiv the organization of education may change. The possibility of holding classes in two shifts directly in shelters is being considered, and in some institutions lessons may start at 7:30. This was reported on 4 August 2026 during a staff meeting by the head of the Education Department of the Mykolaiv City Council Hanna Lychko.

According to her, in the new school year 52 educational institutions plan to operate in an in-person/hybrid format, another 12 institutions – remotely. 11 August the city authorities plan to hold a meeting with school principals, during which they are to develop new algorithms for organizing the educational process. The schedule for each institution will be determined taking into account the capacity of its shelter.

“It may be necessary to organize teaching directly in shelters”, – said Hanna Lychko.

In schools where protective rooms cannot simultaneously accommodate all children, education may be organized in two shifts. It is preliminarily planned that primary school pupils will study in the first shift, and students grades 5-11 – in the second. Also in some institutions classes may begin at 7:30, however no final decisions have been made yet.

From 17 to 20 August Mykolaiv plans to survey parents about the chosen form of instruction. Depending on the results of the survey, the city authorities may reformat the network of educational institutions.
