The dark road has claimed another life: police are investigating a fatal collision in the Mykolaiv region

In the evening of July 17, 2026 in the village of Kobleve in Mykolaiv Raion, a fatal road traffic accident occurred. A 52-year-old pedestrian was killed under the wheels of a Subaru Forester.

According to the police, the accident happened at about 22:45 on Odeska Street. The Subaru Forester was driven by a 38-year-old driver.

According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the 52-year-old man was crossing the roadway at a place that was not designated as a crossing. At that moment he was hit by a car. As a result of his injuries, the pedestrian died at the scene.

Investigators have opened a criminal proceeding under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by a person driving a vehicle, which caused the death of the victim.

The article’s sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8 years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to 3 years, or without such deprivation. Investigators are currently establishing all circumstances and causes of the fatal accident.

The transport crimes investigation unit of the investigative directorate appealed to citizens who witnessed the accident or have any information about its circumstances. They are asked to inform law enforcement by calling 068-327-44-14 or the emergency line 102.
