NMT-2026: nearly 48,000 applicants failed at least one subject
Results worsened: one in seven NMT participants failed to meet the passing threshold
According to the results of the main sessions of NMT-2026, almost 15% of applicants were unable to score the minimum required number of points in at least one subject. This was reported recently by the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment. Test results have already been posted in participants’ personal accounts. In total they were received by 324 003 applicants, or 91,41% of those registered.
This year 275 934 participants passed the threshold for all four subjects, which is 85,09%. At the same time, 14,83% of applicants did not reach the passing score in at least one test.
This indicator turned out to be worse than last year:
- 2024 — the threshold was not passed by 14,38% of participants;
- 2025 — 13,51%;
- 2026 — 14,83%.
Among 2026 school graduates, 12,96% of participants failed one or more subjects. In 2025 this was 12,36%, and in 2024 — 13,23%.
To receive a result on the 100 to 200 point scale, a participant had to overcome the minimum threshold in each subject. In 2026 the requirements for Ukrainian language and history of Ukraine were increased by one test point: now it was necessary to score at least 8 points in Ukrainian language and 9 points in history of Ukraine.
The highest results during the main sessions were achieved by:
- 3671 applicants — 200 points in at least one subject;
- 259 participants — in two subjects;
- 28 participants — in three;
- only two applicants received 200 points in all four subjects.
The number of NMT participants this year increased significantly. For participation in the main sessions 354 463 people registered, of whom 336 737 planned to take the tests in Ukraine, and 17 726 — abroad. The main sessions lasted from May 20 to June 25.
For comparison, in 2024 283 653 applicants took part in the main sessions, and in 2025 — 289 787. Despite the increase in the number of participants, the share of those who passed the threshold in all subjects remains roughly the same: 85,60% in 2024, 86,47% in 2025 and 85,09% in 2026.
The presented results are not yet final, since the additional NMT session will run from July 17 to 24. The Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment plans to publish the full statistical report in the autumn.
