Children have somewhere to play, but parents have only muddy slopes: residents of Korabelnyi ask to equip the gymnasium’s stadium
People are asking for benches to be installed for parents and spectators near the stadium of Gymnasium No. 43
On 27 June 2026 a reader contacted the editors of “Корабелов.Інфо” asking to draw attention to the condition of the stadium of Gymnasium No. 43 in the Korabelny district of Mykolaiv and the territory adjacent to it. According to her, there is a large stadium and a basketball court near the school, but not a single bench. The reader suggested improving the large area by installing benches for residents of the densely populated part of the district:
“I also want to draw your editorial office’s attention to the condition of the stadium of Gymnasium 43 and its adjacent territory. There is a nice large stadium and a basketball court near the school, but, unfortunately, not a single bench to sit on. Can’t such a large area be nicely arranged for walks by mothers with children, grandmothers and grandfathers with grandchildren? Some will do sports, play football, basketball, volleyball, and their spectators will sit not on dirty slopes but on a neat bench. I agree that this is not an amusement park, but a large area that would be useful for resting in a densely populated neighborhood,” the reader wrote.
The appeal sparked a discussion among readers. Some, with humor, recalled that the slopes near the stadium have long been part of local residents’ childhood memories:
“You don’t understand! Our childhood was spent on the slopes; whoever remembers knows what it’s about,” — user Joker left his comment.
Another contributor drew attention not only to the stadium but also to the general condition of the central part of the Korabelny district:
“What kind of landscaping of the stadium area are you talking about? The authorities haven’t put things in order in the very center of the district where so many people live. I mean the lawns near the buffet, near the ATB. Everything is overgrown with weeds. The lawns are scorched, without bushes, trees, or flowers. It really looks neglected. It wouldn’t take much: plant and do simple maintenance,” — wrote user Lyubov.
At the same time, not all readers agreed with the proposal to turn the area near the school into a public recreation spot:
“This is a school, not a place for recreation” — said Yevhen.
Thus, residents’ opinions were divided. Some believe that a large sports area in a densely populated neighborhood could be made more comfortable for children, parents and elderly people. Others emphasize that this is primarily the territory of an educational institution, not a city park.
