Raped his stepdaughter for over 4 years, starting when she was 10: in Zaporizhzhia the stepfather will stand trial
After years of threats, the girl confessed the crimes to her older sister; the accused is in custody without the right to bail
In the Zaporizhzhia region, an indictment was sent to court against a 51-year-old man on charges of years of sexual violence against his stepdaughter, which, according to the investigation, lasted more than 4 years and began when she was 10 years old, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported.
Investigative data indicate that the attacks occurred regularly — from 1 to 2 times a week, and did not stop even after the family’s forced move to another settlement within the region.
The victim did not seek help for a long time due to threats from the stepfather, who intimidated her with violence and insisted that no one would believe her.
Later the girl told her older sister about what happened, who immediately contacted law enforcement.
The suspect was detained pursuant to Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, after which the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail.
The man’s actions were qualified under parts 4, 6 of Art. 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; he faces punishment of up to life imprisonment.
