Police seized a Hyundai Tucson after "cutting off" a trolleybus: a female passenger was injured
The offense was classified under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine; the penalty is up to three years' restriction of liberty
In Mykolaiv, the police opened a criminal investigation after a crash involving a trolleybus with passengers and a Hyundai Tucson that occurred on May 12 at 8:10 on Heroes of Ukraine Avenue.
According to the regional police, the trolleybus, driven by a 39-year-old driver, was following its route when the Hyundai Tucson crossover, behind the wheel of which was a 63-year-old man, made a dangerous maneuver next to the public transport.
To avoid a collision, the trolleybus driver performed emergency braking.
After the incident, a 42-year-old trolleybus passenger sought medical attention.
Law enforcement identified the crossover driver and seized his vehicle for necessary investigative actions.
Investigators qualified the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules, which carries up to 3 years’ restriction of liberty.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing; the police are clarifying all circumstances of the incident.
