Barely out — back behind bars: Korablevnyi court handed down a sentence to a repeat offender
This time he received over 5 years in prison
29 April 2026 Korabelnyi District Court of Mykolaiv issued a sentence to the defendant Maksym Kuksenko, who was found guilty of a series of thefts and the unlawful taking of a vehicle.
According to the case materials, the man repeatedly committed crimes in 2025, acting as a repeat offender and during martial law. In particular, he stole 21 500 hryvnias from the victim’s house, and later again broke into a dwelling, from which he took tools and household appliances worth more than 7 900 hryvnias .
In addition, at the end of August he unlawfully took possession of a scooter of the brand “HONDA DIO”, which he found with the key in the ignition near a house in Mykolaiv, after which he sold it for a few thousand hryvnias.
In court the defendant fully admitted his guilt and expressed remorse. Some of the stolen property was returned to the victims, which the court considered a mitigating circumstance.
At the same time, the court took into account that Maksym Kuksenko had previously been repeatedly held criminally liable, and committed the new crimes during a period of conditional early release. This was the basis for the conclusion that his rehabilitation is possible only under conditions of isolation from society.
For the totality of crimes the court imposed a sentence of 5 years 6 months of imprisonment. Taking into account the previous sentence, the final term amounted to 5 years 7 months of imprisonment without confiscation of property .
Also, the convicted person will be ordered to pay court costs for conducting examinations in the amount of 28 884,02 hryvnias.
