Strike on a school in Komyshuvakha: death toll rises to 31
Three days of mourning declared in Zaporizhzhia Oblast
After Russia struck a school in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, the death toll rose to 31. Another five people were injured, and 50 people are considered missing.
The updated figures were released today, November 3, by Mykhailo Semikin, acting head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, on Telegram @zoda_gov_ua.
The attack took place yesterday, Monday, November 2: Russian forces struck a school where humanitarian aid was being distributed. Local residents received aid there every week. Initial reports put the death toll at 18.
At least nine airstrikes hit the settlement, using different types of aerial bombs. Russian forces first dropped a FAB-500, then used a FAB-3000.
“The FAB-3000 is a three-ton aerial bomb containing almost one and a half tons of explosives. This weapon is used to destroy reinforced concrete fortifications and bunkers,” explained Mykhailo Semikin.
According to him, a direct hit by the aerial bomb caused the concrete structure of an underground center to collapse. A fire broke out at the site of the strike.
Mourning for the victims in Zaporizhzhia region will last three days — November 3, 4, and 5.
