No additional waiting: 40+ screening will finally become less bureaucratic
Don't wait for symptoms: Ukrainians are getting easier access to health screening
The government adopted changes to the procedure for implementing the national program Health Screening 40+. After the necessary technical improvements in the app and on the Diia portal, participation in the program should become easier for people from 40 years old. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
One of the main changes — the cancellation of the requirement tied to the birthday. Previously, an application could be submitted only after 30 calendar days had passed since the person’s birthday. After the updated mechanism is launched, there will be no need to wait for a specific day: if a person has already turned 40 years or older, they will be able to apply at a convenient time. An application can be submitted through the Diia app or the service can be arranged through CNAP (this option should be more convenient for those who do not use digital services or need help with the application).
The period for using funds is also changing. After the money is credited to a special account, the participant will have two months to pay for the screening service. If the funds are not used during this time, they will automatically return to the state budget. For people who have already received support funds earlier, a separate transitional period is provided: they will be able to use them until the end of June this year.
The program Health Screening 40+ includes basic examinations for the early detection of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and mental health problems. Its goal is not to wait for critical symptoms, but to notice risks in time and take control of one’s health.
Since the program started, more than 34 thousand Ukrainians aged 40+ have already completed the screening. At the same time, more than 340 thousand people have submitted applications to participate. During this time participants have already been paid more than 588 million UAH in support funds. The service is available in approximately 2000 medical service locations across Ukraine.
For frontline regions, including Mykolaiv region, such programs have special importance. Due to the war, stress, limited access to planned healthcare and constant strain, people often postpone examinations “for later”, although early diagnosis can save health and lives.
