1.8 million veterans in Ukraine: the government promises 100,000 jobs and guarantees in the new Labour Code
The 'Veteran. Employment' program for 2026–2027 has been approved, and 120 of the largest employers have already embraced veteran-friendly principles
There are already 1.8 million veterans in Ukraine, and the government is placing emphasis on strengthening their economic independence; this was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The head of government outlined the goal — to employ 100 thousand veterans by 2030 in close cooperation between the state and business.
Our goal is to employ 100,000 veterans by 2030 in partnership between the state and business
for 2026–2027, which will provide support for a person from the moment of employment to successful adaptation in the workplace.
Svyrydenko also outlined planned legislative guarantees for servicemembers and veterans, which are intended to ensure the preservation of labor rights and social benefits.
We are embedding guarantees in the new Labor Code for employees during the period of military service — with the preservation of their job and position after service. Rights and social guarantees for veterans have for the first time been systemically set out in a separate Veterans’ Code, which has already been registered in parliament
The business sector is also joining state initiatives: already 120 of the country’s largest employers have supported veteran-friendly principles and declare their readiness to create appropriate conditions at their enterprises.
