Clashes near a house outside Kyiv where hostages are being held
Private ambulance medics were not allowed to see the person
Today, November 2, a conflict broke out near a private home in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, Kyiv region. Local residents gathered there, and media outlets reported clashes. Police, who later issued an official statement about the incident, said that reports of people being unlawfully held and someone being killed were false. According to TSN, citing sources in law enforcement.
The gathering was prompted by posts on social media claiming that armed people were guarding the building and that around 40 people were allegedly being held against their will in the basement. According to these claims, some of them needed urgent medical care. There was no official confirmation of a mass hostage-taking.
TSN, citing sources in law enforcement, reported different information: one man was inside. According to preliminary information from those sources, he may be a serviceman who had left his military unit without authorization. The outlet’s sources called the claims of a mass hostage situation unreliable.
The police’s official statement says they received a call from a private ambulance service whose staff were being prevented from reaching a person. At the scene, law enforcement officers found servicemen from the National Guard of Ukraine and local residents near the house.
24 Channel also reported that an ambulance crew had arrived but was not allowed inside. According to the outlet, doctors said several people might need help, including four in critical condition. The National Guard, however, said it had no information about anyone being injured or killed at that time.
Tensions remained high near the building. Social media users shared footage of a medical worker kneeling and asking to be allowed onto the property. In one video, a man tried to climb over the fence, but his face was beaten until it was bloody.
Some Telegram channels also claimed that gas had been used against people trying to approach the house, and that people had allegedly been beaten.
The circumstances of the incident are still being investigated. The leadership of the Kyiv region police and the National Guard command are at the scene. Law enforcement urged people to rely on official sources and not to spread unverified information.
