In Ternopil, a conflict broke out between residents and the territorial recruitment center (TRC): several service members were injured

In the evening of August 25, a conflict occurred on Lesi Kurbasa Street in Ternopil between servicemen of the Territorial Recruitment Center and local residents. As a result of the incident, several TRC employees sustained bodily injuries.

According to the Ternopil region police, the event occurred at around 20:00 during measures to identify people who may be evading military service. When the servicemen were speaking with one of the men, other citizens began approaching the TRC’s service vehicle.

According to preliminary data, they began striking the vehicle and got into a conflict with the servicemen. During the scuffle, several employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center sustained bodily injuries.

An investigative-operational team and additional police units arrived at the scene to stop the conflict. Law enforcement officers stopped the clash and began establishing the circumstances of the incident.

Police are currently identifying all participants in the incident, as well as determining the extent of the damage and the nature of the bodily injuries sustained by the victims. Based on the results of the investigation, they will decide whether to enter information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations (URPI) and determine the legal qualification of the participants’ actions.

The police urged citizens to refrain from aggression and unlawful actions, stressing that disputes should be resolved exclusively within the law.

Recall that in Lviv a 25-year-old local resident was notified of suspicion of murdering a serviceman of the Territorial Recruitment Center and of threatening to kill a police officer. That incident occurred on the evening of August 21 during measures to notify the public and check military registration documents.
