The water pipeline to Mykolaiv was built for UAH 2.3 billion less
The cost includes anti-drone protection and solar power plants
The new water pipeline to Mykolaiv cost the state UAH 6.4 billion, although the initial estimated construction cost was UAH 8.7 billion. These figures were given by former head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Serhii Sukhomlyn, commenting on the agency’s performance.
The project saved around UAH 2.3 billion. At the same time, the former agency head stressed that the lower costs did not mean abandoning additional infrastructure elements: the estimate included both protection measures and backup power sources for the pumping stations.
The construction cost included:
- anti-drone protection for underground pumping stations;
- construction of solar power plants near each of these stations;
- other work предусмотрed by the project.
Overall, the state budget saved UAH 13 billion across various projects last year, Sukhomlyn said. He attributed this result to a more efficient approach to the use of public funds. According to him, all the money saved was returned to the state budget.
