Alina Poloziuk from Mykolaiv won Ukraine’s first-ever World Championships bronze in women’s foil
Poloziuk and Peremeti Received Certificates for Cash Awards
For their successful performances at international competitions in 2026, Mykolaiv athletes — fencer Alina Poloziuk and rhythmic gymnast Valeriia Peremeta — received certificates for one-time cash awards. A few days ago, they were presented by Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, who met with the athletes and their coaches.
The athletes’ achievements include a historic Ukrainian fencing medal, a national championship title, and awards at international competitions:
- In 2026, Alina Poloziuk won Ukraine’s first-ever bronze medal in women’s foil at the World Championships, held in Hong Kong. This year, the fencer also won bronze at the European Championships.
- In 2026, Valeriia Peremeta won gold at the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships and bronze at a World Cup event. In 2024, she placed 7th at the Olympic Games in Paris.
Their coaches were also recognized:
- Larysa Pavlenko;
- Svitlana Peremeta.
Valeriia Peremeta recently announced her retirement from competitive sport. Oleksandr Sienkevych thanked her for her dedication, talent, and outstanding contribution to the achievements of the city and the country. He wished the gymnast success in the next chapter of her life and on the path she has chosen.
During an informal conversation, the mayor asked the athletes and their coaches about their future plans, the challenges they face, and how they believe training conditions could be improved. He wished everyone at the meeting continued success and many more achievements.
