Mykolaiv fencer Alina Polozyuk received a cash reward from Mykolaiv Oblast for the bronze medal at the World Championships she won in July. This was reported on social media by the acting head of the Mykolaiv OVA, Heorhiy Reshetilov.

This award made Polozyuk the first representative of independent Ukraine to win a medal of this level in women’s épée.

During the meeting the athlete and her coach Larysa Pavlenko discussed further preparation for competitions. Meeting participants identified the fencer’s needs to ensure a full training process, as well as issues that need to be resolved at the regional level. It is noted that these issues are planned to be worked on in detail.

“International competitions and the fight for Olympic qualification lie ahead. We identified what is necessary for a full training process, which issues require resolution and where we can help at the regional level,” reads Heorhiy Reshetilov’s message.
