21 thousand for the theory: in Mykolaiv region, the director of an institution promised to influence the examiners

In Mykolaiv Oblast the director of the Novobuzh Educational and Sports Institution was detained after receiving 21 thousand hryvnias. According to the investigation, for this money he promised a client to influence the examiners so that she would successfully pass the theoretical part of the test for a category B driver’s license.

The police established that the offer was made during a personal conversation with a woman who had failed the theoretical exam. The head of the institution allegedly promised to influence the staff of the MIA service center. After receiving the reward, he was supposed to arrange with the officials of the institution for the candidate to successfully pass the knowledge check of the Rules of the Road.

The actions of the head were uncovered and documented by:

• investigators of the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast;
• employees of the Mykolaiv Division of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine;
• the leadership of the Regional Service Center of the Main Service Center of the MIA in Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts, which assisted the investigation;
• Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, which is providing procedural guidance.

After receiving the agreed sum, the man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was notified of suspicion under part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — for receiving an unlawful benefit for himself in exchange for influencing the decision of a person authorized to perform state functions.

The penalty under the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court has already chosen a preventive measure for the suspect, but the police did not specify its type. The pre-trial investigation continues.
