Rescuers were awarded the "For the Defense of Mykolaiv" decorations
The ceremonies were timed to coincide with the professional holiday of State Emergency Service employees
On the eve of Rescuer’s Day, which is observed in Ukraine on September 17, a ceremonial event was held in Mykolaiv. Honorary awards were presented to the best specialists of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Mykolaiv Oblast.
The professional holiday is dedicated to people whose calling is to help others. Rescuers are the first to arrive at fires and sites of enemy shelling, extract people from under rubble, work in flames and daily eliminate the consequences of emergencies and hostile aggression, risking their own lives.
The ceremonies were attended by:
- Secretary of the Mykolaiv City Council Dmytro Falko;
- acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration Heorhii Reshetilov;
- chair of the Mykolaiv Regional Council Anton Tabunshchyk;
- heads of the region’s security agencies.
Dmytro Falko emphasized that rescuers face the threat of repeat enemy strikes during their call-outs.
“Congratulations on your holiday, dear rescuers! Today you work under extremely difficult conditions: the aggressor respects no conventions or international rules, and when you head to a call you risk being subjected to repeat shelling each time. This is extremely cynical. The enemy is trying to destroy us and our resilience in this way. But the main thing is — you cannot be broken, because your calling is to save lives. Sincere thanks to you for this. Thank you for your service!”
For their contribution to civil protection of the population and territories from emergencies, conscientious performance of duties during martial law, professionalism and bravery, the city council secretary presented to the employees of the State Emergency Service (SES):
- the mayor’s honorary awards “For the Defense of Mykolaiv” II degree;
- certificates.
Other invited guests also thanked the rescuers and presented them with awards.
