43 heroes, seven posthumously: military personnel and rescuers were awarded in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Ukraine, a ceremony was held to honor servicemembers and rescuers who defend the state, save people, and help the city withstand the full-scale Russian aggression.

The Mykolaiv City Council reported the holding of the ceremonial event on June 29, 2026.

State awards and the city award “For the Defense of Mykolaiv” were received by a total of 43 heroes. Awards were posthumously conferred on 7 defenders.

The ceremony began with the performance of the National Anthem of Ukraine. After that, those present honored the memory of military and civilian Ukrainians whose lives the war has taken with a minute of silence.

Some of the awards were received by the families of the fallen heroes. Their relatives continue to preserve the memory of the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine and the future of its citizens.

The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevych, thanked the servicemembers and rescuers who are on the frontlines and working in the rear, defending the right of Ukrainians to live in a free and independent state.

“You bravely and loyally defend Ukraine. Mykolaiv is proud of you,” said Oleksandr Senkevych.

The medal “For the Defense of Mykolaiv” was established to honor servicemembers, rescuers, law enforcement officers, volunteers, medics, and other people who took part in the defense of the city and in eliminating the consequences of hostilities.
