Teenagers set up a shooting range in the courtyard of an apartment building in Mykolaiv

31 August at about 22:30 the emergency line 102 received a report from a local resident that unknown young men were firing shots in the courtyard of the buildings on Soborna Street, presumably at cans.

During initial police actions, law enforcement identified two 17-year-old offenders.

According to the minors, unknown men who were in the yard gave them the weapon for amusement.

Juvenile police drew up administrative materials against the boys under Art. 174 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (КУпАП) – shooting with firearms, cold throwing or pneumatic weapons, devices for firing cartridges loaded with rubber or similar non-lethal projectiles in populated areas and in places not designated for this purpose or in violation of the established procedure. The article’s sanction carries a fine from one hundred to one hundred fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens with confiscation of the weapon, devices for firing cartridges loaded with rubber or similar non-lethal projectiles and combat ammunition.

Police held a preventive conversation with the minors and their parents and carried out explanatory work about the inadmissibility of such behavior.

The investigation is ongoing; all participants in the incident are being identified and measures are being taken to determine the object from which the shots were fired.
