In Mykolaiv, a tractor-trailer struck a 71-year-old pedestrian
The injured person was hospitalized after the accident at the intersection
August 23 at around 11:20 in Mykolaiv a road traffic accident occurred involving a truck and a pedestrian. The accident happened near the controlled intersection of the streets Vadyma Blahovisnoho and Velyka Morska.
According to preliminary police information, the 60-year-old driver of the road train MAN TGX 18.440 with a semi-trailer ran over a 71-year-old man. As a result of the collision the pedestrian sustained injuries.
The emergency medical team took the injured person to a medical facility, where he was hospitalized.
Investigators have provisionally classified the incident under part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons driving vehicles. The penalty under this article provides for up to 3 years of restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
Authorities are currently establishing all the circumstances of the accident. The police are also looking for possible witnesses to the crash.
