In Odesa, a man fired at employees of the recruitment center: four servicemen were wounded
The attacker has been detained
In the evening of 2 August 2026 in Odesa a man opened fire at employees of the district Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center. As a result of the shooting four servicemen were wounded.
As reported by the police of the Odesa region, information about the incident reached law enforcement officers at around 19:30. According to preliminary data, during activities to notify the population an unknown person fired several shots from a pistol toward employees of the RTCC and SS.
According to local media, the shooting took place on Kosmonavtiv Street. One of the injured, a 25-year-old serviceman, sustained a wound to the back in the lung area and was hospitalized to a city hospital. Three other TCC employees independently sought medical assistance. Their condition was initially assessed as moderate. Authorities have not officially provided details about the condition of the wounded.
During operational-search activities, police detained a 32-year-old man. According to preliminary information, he fired from a pistol chambered for Flobert cartridges. The weapon was seized and will be sent for expert examination. Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — obstruction of the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.
The man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators are establishing all the circumstances of the shooting.
