In the Odesa region, in the Tuzly Lagoons National Nature Park, as of 2 August hundreds of rare pink flamingos have still not found a safe place to nest and remain in a hard-to-reach protected zone, said Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev.

According to him, several hundred birds are currently observed in the park, but they avoid areas where they could form nesting colonies.

«It is already 2 August, and the pink flamingos in 2026, as in 2022, 2024, 2025, have not been able to find a quiet place to nest in the National Nature Park “Tuzly Lagoons”. They are frightened by the sounds of war», — stated Doctor of Biological Sciences Ivan Rusev.

The scientist noted that because of the sounds of war the birds are forced to remain in restricted-access protected zones where they have at least relative peace.

Rusev also released a video showing pink flamingos moving through shallow waters within the boundaries of the national park.
