The driver ran a red light: an elderly Mykolaiv resident with a fracture was taken to the hospital

In Mykolaiv on Thursday, 16 July 2026, the driver of a Mercedes Sprinter minibus hit an elderly man at a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing. The victim, with a broken leg and a bruised arm, was hospitalized.
The traffic accident is reported by PN citing the Patrol Police Department of Mykolaiv Oblast.
The crash happened at the intersection of Velyka Morska and Mariupolska streets.
According to preliminary information from the patrol police, the Mercedes Sprinter driver entered the intersection on a red (prohibited) traffic signal.
At that time a man born in 1959 was crossing the roadway at a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing on the permitted green signal. The minibus struck him.
As a result of the impact the pedestrian suffered a broken leg and a bruised arm. The injured man was taken to a medical facility.
Patrol police were working at the scene of the accident. The arrival of an investigator was awaited to draw up the materials and establish all the circumstances of the crash.
