Koretskyi headed the government and announced priorities: weapons for the front, preparations for winter and social payments
289 deputies supported the appointment of Serhii Koretskyi
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine 16 July 2026 appointed Serhii Fedorovych Koretskyi as Prime Minister of Ukraine. His candidacy was supported by 289 people’s deputies. Before moving to the government he headed NAK “Naftogaz of Ukraine”.
The nomination of Koretskyi was submitted by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The corresponding draft resolution was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on 15 July 2026. The day before, the parliament accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Anatoliivna Svyrydenko by 258 votes, which led to the resignation of the entire government.
After the appointment, Serhii Koretskyi stated that the main task of the new Cabinet of Ministers will be to provide Ukrainian servicemembers with everything they need and to expand the capabilities of the domestic defense-industrial complex.
Among the main areas of the new government’s work, the Prime Minister named the production and supply of drones of various types, ground robotic systems, modern equipment and weapons for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
He identified preparing the country for the heating season, supporting Ukrainian business, timely payment of pensions and social assistance, and financing key state services as separate priorities.
The government must pay increased attention to frontline communities whose residents are under Russian shelling daily. The Cabinet also plans to attract additional international assistance and to continue Ukraine’s course toward full membership in the European Union.
“I take up the duties of Prime Minister with clearly defined priorities.
Our main task is the full provision of the Defense Forces of Ukraine and scaling up the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex. We will do everything so that for every long-range operation, every precision strike, and for defending positions on the front, Ukrainian soldiers have sufficient forces and means: drones of all types, ground robotic systems, modern equipment and weapons.
At the same time we are preparing the country for winter, supporting Ukrainian citizens and business.
It is our duty to fulfill all social obligations of the state, ensuring the timely payment of pensions, social assistance and the funding of key public services.
We pay special attention to frontline communities that live under Russian shelling every day.
A separate priority is strengthening cooperation with international partners, attracting additional resources and making the most effective use of international assistance.
Our strategic course remains unchanged — Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union.

The appointment of the new prime minister took place against the backdrop of preparations for a large-scale renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers.
