Hit a teenager, got on his motorcycle and rode off: police tracked down the attacker
In the Mykolaiv district, police detained a 35-year-old local resident suspected of attacking a 16-year-old boy and illegally taking his motorcycle. This was reported on July 14, 2026 by the Mykolaiv region police.
In the evening July 13 the minor turned to Police Station No. 5. He said he was pushing a JBW motorcycle down the street for repairs and stopped along the way to talk with acquaintances. According to the investigation, a 35-year-old man who was intoxicated approached the group and offered to start the motorcycle. When the owner refused, the man struck him, took the vehicle and drove off.
Within several hours law enforcement officers established the suspect’s whereabouts and located the motorcycle. The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — unlawful seizure of a vehicle combined with violence that is not dangerous to the victim’s life or health. For the committed offense the suspect faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property or without it. The court is to choose a preventive measure for the man in the near future.
The seized motorcycle was returned to the 16-year-old owner after the necessary investigative actions. The pre-trial investigation continues.
