Pushed into a van and thrown out near a dumpster: TCC servicemen charged over the abduction of a man
The document check ended in a hospital: at the TCC they once again mistook the law for force
In Dnipro, law enforcement officers established the involvement of three servicemen in the abduction of a man during activities to notify and verify military registration data. This was reported on 1 June 2026 by the police of Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to the investigation, at the time of the incident the suspects were serving in one of the regional military recruitment centers (TCC). They acted on their own and early in the morning noticed a man of mobilization age on a deserted street. Under the pretext of checking documents the servicemen approached the man, but, as the police note, not waiting for an answer, immediately grabbed him and forcibly pushed him into a van. In the vehicle, according to law enforcement, the man was intimidated and subjected to psychological pressure. In front of the servicemen the victim’s condition sharply deteriorated; he became unwell. Despite this, instead of providing assistance or taking the man to a hospital, the suspects pushed him out of the vehicle onto the ground near a trash bin and drove away. The police emphasize: one of the servicemen was a rifleman-medic, i.e. was supposed to take measures to help the victim.
After that the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Soon after the incident two suspects were transferred to serve in other military units, another remained serving at the recruitment center. Currently two servicemen have already been notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – unlawful deprivation of liberty or abduction of a person. The rifleman-medic is additionally charged under Part 3 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – leaving someone in danger. A notification of suspicion is being prepared for another former colleague of the suspects. The investigation continues.
