Épées and sabres worked again: Mykolaiv residents return from Kyiv with medals

Mykolaiv fencers became winners and medalists of the Ukrainian Championship. This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.

The competition took place from May 29 to 31, 2026 in Kyiv. This year more than 400 participants from different regions of the country took part. Representatives of Mykolaiv showed a strong performance and won a total of six medals. Mykolaiv athletes won medals in both individual and team events.

In individual events, the foil title was claimed by Alina Polozyuk, who took first place. In the sabre competition Viktoriia Korotchenko became the silver medalist, and Oleksandra Bondar took third place. A bronze medal in the foil was also won by Mykyta Astashov.

In team competitions Mykolaiv athletes also stepped onto the podium. The Mykolaiv-1 team in the foil won second place. Its members included Alina Polozyuk, Kira Pron, Milana Stepovyk and Anastasiia Yerofeyenko.

Another team medal was brought by the Mykolaiv sabre team, which took third place. Its lineup included Volodymyra Babenko, Oleksandra Bondar, Alisa Kostina and Viktoriia Korotchenko.

The city council congratulated the athletes and their coaches on the results at the Ukrainian Championship.
