Another death at the TRC: a man was found dead in the restroom after being brought in for data verification
Body in the TCK restroom: what is known about the death of a 46-year-old Ternopil resident
In Ternopil, law enforcement is investigating the death of a man whose body was found on the premises of one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers (TRSSC). The incident was reported on May 24 2026 by the police of Ternopil Oblast. The first tip for the police was a report that arrived on May 23 at the Ternopil District Police Department: a body was found in the restroom of one of the TRSSCs.
According to law enforcement, the deceased was a 46-year-old resident of Ternopil. The police established that the same day the man was brought to the TRSSC to verify his military registration data. The preliminary version of the investigation – the man entered the restroom and committed suicide using a firearm. At the same time, final conclusions will be made by law enforcement after checking all the circumstances of the incident.
Information on the death has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with an additional mark in the qualification “suicide”. Such a legal qualification is standard for investigating a person’s death until all details are clarified.
Police are currently establishing how exactly the man got into the TRSSC premises, under what conditions he was at the recruitment center, where the weapon could have come from, and whether other people were nearby at the moment of the tragedy. These questions are to become key for the investigation, since public trust in such inquiries depends on the completeness and transparency of the examination.
This case inevitably causes public resonance because it did not happen at home, on the street, or in a private place, but in an institution where the man was brought to verify his military registration data. Therefore, in addition to the legal assessment of the death itself, questions of control, safety, the order of people’s presence in TRSSCs, and the responsibility of officials for everything that happens on the territory of such institutions remain important.
