In the settlement of Kryve Ozero a disturbing incident occurred that raises serious questions about the safety of children in schools. 20 February on the premises of Kryvoozerskyi Lyceum No. 2 two pupils attacked their 11-year-old classmate, after which the child had to be hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident became known from the words of the victim’s mother — Yana Bilan, who learned about the beating from the school nurse, writes “Suspilne“.

“My child then had a bruised eye, she was unsteady on her feet — she would crouch and almost lose consciousness”

According to the child, the conflict began during a snowball fight, but quickly escalated into a brutal beating: they pulled her by the hood and hair, threw her face into the snow and kicked her. The mother emphasizes that this is already the second case — earlier the girl was also beaten, but then the situation was written off as a “children’s conflict”.

“They grabbed her by the hood and by the hair, bent her head to the ground, into the snow. According to the child, she was kicked”

Medics recorded that the victim suffered a concussion, contusion of the abdominal organs and numerous limb injuries. At the same time, according to the mother, the school administration did not contact her and offered no assistance.

“I still haven’t met or spoken with the school administration; no help was offered to me”

The Main Department of the National Police in Mykolaiv Oblast confirmed that a criminal proceeding has been opened under part 1 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional minor bodily injury). The perpetrators may face a fine or community service or corrective labor.
