At night, a man was seriously wounded in the chest in central Mykolaiv

In the morning of 26 September, medical staff informed the police about the hospitalization of a man with a stab wound to the chest. The victim was taken to the hospital from the intersection of Soborna Street and Tsentralnyi Avenue in the city center of Mykolaiv. The call came in at approximately 3:00.

The following were involved in work at the scene:

• officers of Police Department No. 1 of the Mykolaiv District Administration;
• investigators of the investigative department, operatives, and the forensic laboratory of the Main Department of the National Police in Mykolaiv region;
• canine handlers and other services.

The 55-year-old victim remains in the medical facility. Doctors assess his condition as serious.

The police opened a criminal proceeding under the preliminary qualification — part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, that is, intentional grievous bodily harm. The article’s sanction provides for up to eight years of imprisonment.

Currently law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident and the persons who may be involved in the crime. Citizens who have any information are asked to call (0512) 53-19-05 or 102.
