The attacker dragged a passerby into a wooded strip, bound and raped her, and nearly stabbed her — the girl was saved by bystanders

Juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office proved in court the guilt of a 33-year-old man in committing particularly serious crimes against a minor. According to the prosecutor’s office, the court imposed the maximum possible punishment provided by the sanctions of the charged articles, – 15 years of imprisonment. This was reported on 19 March 2026 by the head of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office Dmytro Prokudin.

According to the case materials, in August 2024 in Fastivskyi district a man attacked a 17-year-old girl as she was returning home. He forcefully led her to a wooded strip, handcuffed her and raped her. When the victim tried to break free, the attacker stabbed her four times in the back. Despite severe injuries, the girl managed to run out to the road. There the convict caught up with her, grabbed her legs and began dragging her from the roadside back into the tree line to finish her off. After that he stabbed the victim once more – this time in the chest.

Drivers traveling on the highway noticed the crime, and stopped on the roadside. It was this, according to the prosecutor’s office, that foiled the final stage of the attack. The attacker assumed he had killed the girl and fled the scene. Thanks to the help of concerned people and the prompt actions of medics, the victim was saved.

During the pre-trial investigation and the court proceedings, law enforcement gathered a body of evidence that confirmed the defendant’s involvement in the crime. Among them – forensic examination results, camera footage, physical evidence and witness testimony.

After the verdict, the victim’s mother also commented on the investigation and the trial, thanking everyone who helped bring the case to a close.
