Fuel for the social sector covers less than half of demand: heating preparations in the Mykolaiv region
Mykolaiv district, excluding the regional center, is 89% ready
Preparation for the heating season in Mykolaiv District has covered 18 territorial communities and 234 settlements. The city of Mykolaiv is not included in the district figures. The state of preparations was discussed at a briefing yesterday, November 4.
“As of today, the district’s overall readiness for the heating season stands at 89%,” said Maxym Kashuba, head of the Mykolaiv District Military Administration.
The head of the administration also gave figures for individual areas:
- social infrastructure — 98% ready;
- social services — 95%;
- heat supply — 88%;
- water supply and sewerage — 78%;
- roads and bridges — 86%.
A reserve of more than 1,293 tonnes of alternative fuel has been built up for social service facilities. However, efforts to replenish supplies are still ongoing.
“This is about 49% of the total requirement. It includes coal, firewood, pellets, straw, and so on. The collection of this fuel and the signing of the relevant agreements are currently underway,” Maxym Kashuba explained.
The head of the district administration also said that critical infrastructure, social service and communications facilities are being equipped with generators.
The heating season in the regional centre began on November 3. Social service facilities, including hospitals and educational institutions, are to receive heat first. Heating is expected to be fully switched on across Mykolaiv within 10 days.
