Ukrainian Magura naval drones tested by the U.S. military: new capabilities for combat operations
The U.S. Armed Forces tested Ukrainian Magura unmanned surface vessels as floating platforms for launching aerial drones. The tests took place during the Bayonet Quest 26 military exercises in the state of Michigan.
The U.S. Army’s 7th Infantry Division took part in the maneuvers, using MV7 unmanned boats manufactured by the Ukrainian company UFORCE. Launch platforms for unmanned aerial vehicles were installed on the bows of the vessels.
During the tests, the unmanned boats operated alongside a crewed Mk VI patrol boat. The military assessed the potential use of these systems in coastal areas, particularly in conditions relevant to the Indo-Pacific region.
Ukrainian Magura unmanned surface vessels have already demonstrated their combat effectiveness in the Black Sea. Ukraine has used them to attack Russian ships. This is the second known instance of the U.S. Armed Forces using these boats in 2026. The tests may indicate that the U.S. military is interested in using Ukrainian unmanned maritime platforms for operations in coastal areas.
