“FPV drones are already reaching Korabelnyi, and everyone is staying silent?”: Mykolaiv resident demands answers

FPV Drone Over the City: What Is Known About the Alarming Reports, and Has the Threat Been Confirmed?

In Mykolaiv, a resident of the Korabelnyi district voiced concern over reports of possible enemy FPV drone flights near Balabanivka, “Vodoliі” and the Ocean plant. A video of his address was published on October 13, 2026, on the Telegram channel “Korabelov. Info.”

The man draws attention to the fact that schools and kindergartens continue to open in the district, while reports of drones allegedly appearing near residential areas are causing concern among residents.

“We’re opening schools and kindergartens, doing everything so people can live their lives. And FPV drones are flying in!”

What worries the author of the video most is that, according to him, residents report drones appearing in the area but do not always hear an air-raid alert. This leads him to question how the public is being informed and how safe children who attend educational institutions are.

The man also asks whether the Korabelnyi district could find itself in a situation similar to the one faced by Kherson, where Russian forces systematically use drones against civilians. He also draws attention to what he sees as the lack of proper public explanations from the city authorities.

Reports of possible FPV flights over Korabelnyi have appeared before. On October 7, 2026, monitoring channels shared information about alleged FPV drones in the district. At the time, there was no official confirmation that the drones spotted were Russian FPVs. The possible appearance of Ukrainian interceptor drones was also considered.

At the same time, the threat of Russian FPV drone use in Mykolaiv itself is no longer merely hypothetical. According to reports on the aftermath of the attacks on October 11–12, 2026, a Russian FPV drone damaged the road surface in the city. No one was injured.

However, the confirmed FPV drone strike in Mykolaiv does not prove that Russian drones were near Balabanivka, “Vodoliі” or the Ocean plant—the locations mentioned in the video address.

Reports of possible drone flights near residential areas are understandably concerning, especially when children and the operation of educational institutions are involved. However, information about an aircraft spotted in the sky does not in itself establish its type, affiliation or purpose.

The questions raised by the resident concern not only the threat itself, but also communication with the public: how reports of drones are verified, under what circumstances an air-raid alert is issued, and how parents should assess whether it is safe for their children to be at schools and kindergartens.

There is no official confirmation in publicly available sources that the drones mentioned by the video’s author were Russian FPVs or were near all the locations he named.

Residents expect clear explanations about the security situation. In the face of Russian aggression, timely communication with the public is just as important as ensuring that infrastructure and educational institutions are prepared for potential threats.
