Trump Again Claims There Is an Energy Truce Between Ukraine and Russia
The US president urged both sides not to violate the announced agreement to halt strikes
U.S. President Donald Trump today again claimed that Ukraine and Russia had allegedly reached an agreement to stop mutual attacks on energy infrastructure. He posted the statement on his social network, Truth Social.
“As of this moment, there is an energy ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides have agreed. Do not violate it! Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Donald Trump wrote.
Separately, Trump said it was time for Ukraine to choose a new president. In his view, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has had several opportunities to reach a deal to end the war but failed to take advantage of them.
Afterwards, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to hold presidential elections if a 60-day ceasefire were guaranteed.
Zelenskyy gave this response to the U.S. president’s call for a change of leadership in Ukraine during an interview on ABC News on October 11.
