Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure and expects Russia to participate in agreeing the specific conditions of a cessation of hostilities. This, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Heorhii Tykhyi said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday, September 16.

According to him, the Ukrainian side had previously proposed introducing such a regime. If the Russian side is truly committed to an energy ceasefire, it should provide a list of facilities and join in clarifying the details.

“If the Russians are serious about this too, then let them provide the lists of facilities, let them clarify the details — we are waiting for that,” said Heorhii Tykhyi.

The regime proposed by Ukraine should prohibit the use of any types of weapons against all energy facilities. The spokesperson of the MFA of Ukraine emphasized that this position has already been voiced by the country’s president, and called on the Russian side to explain its own vision of the agreement.

“The president of Ukraine said that. And the Russians — we are waiting, let them say how they see it,” added Heorhii Tykhyi.

U.S. President Donald Trump September 14 said there was a mutual agreement between Ukraine and Russia to refrain from strikes on energy sector facilities.
