Fishing, socializing, and enjoying the outdoors brought together people who use wheelchairs in Mykolaiv. They took part in a competition on the picturesque riverbank.

Three teams entered the fishing tournament:

  • “Invasport”;
  • “Victoria”;
  • “Sport for All”.

The participants competed to win, but the event was about more than the sporting results: they also valued the chance to socialize, show off their skills, and enjoy a favorite pastime. The fine weather made it a perfect day to spend outdoors, and the gathering took place in a friendly atmosphere.

The event was organized by:

  • Mykolaiv City Territorial Social Services Center;
  • the regional “Invasport” center;
  • the city sports and recreation club for people with disabilities, “Victoria”.

Support was provided by the public organization “Ukraine’s Anglers’ Club”.

The organizers also made sure everyone felt welcome. Tea with fresh pastries and treats for the anglers was provided by:

  • the “Svarha” charity foundation;
  • the “Golden Loaf” bakery;
  • Mykolaiv’s “Southern Defense” Aid Headquarters.

After the competition, each participant received themed gifts to use on future fishing trips.

The gathering showed how sporting events and shared leisure activities can bring people together and encourage an active lifestyle. Initiatives like this create opportunities to socialize and take part in community life regardless of physical limitations.
