Olive trees are being grown in Mykolaiv: researchers are looking for promising crops for the south
Young scientists study how plants adapt to local soils and climate
In Mykolaiv, young researchers from Mykolaiv National Agrarian University are finding out how suitable the climate of southern Ukraine is for olive trees. The study aims to identify crops that can thrive in the conditions of the Southern Steppe of Ukraine.
The researchers are monitoring the trees’ growth and development and assessing how well the plants adapt to local soils and climate. They are also exploring the prospects for growing olives in the region.
For the young researchers, this work also has educational value: it gives them practical experience, deepens their knowledge, and allows them to contribute to scientific research related to the development of the agricultural sector.
