A serviceman sold four humanitarian SUVs in Mykolaiv
The court imposed a suspended sentence, and the vehicles will be transferred to the military unit
In Mykolaiv, a court found a serviceman guilty of selling four vehicles brought into Ukraine as humanitarian aid for the Defense Forces. According to the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Southern Region, this concerns the illegal use of humanitarian aid for profit during martial law.
According to the prosecutor’s office, a 32-year-old man who was drafted into military service under mobilization decided to sell the humanitarian vehicles in July 2025. He sought buyers through listings on a popular online platform.
The following SUVs were put up for sale:
- two Mercedes-Benz ML 270 CDI;
- Renault Koleos;
- BMW X5.
A man who was looking for a vehicle for military needs responded to the listing. When he learned that the seller was trading humanitarian property, he contacted law enforcement. Afterwards, the buyer acted under their supervision.
The meeting took place at a service station. There, the serviceman offered to hand over the entire set of vehicles with documents for $21,800. On August 1, 2025, after the transfer of money, keys and documents, law enforcement arrested the seller.
The court sentenced the serviceman to 5 years of imprisonment, but released him from serving the primary punishment by establishing a three-year probationary period. He was also banned for 3 years from holding positions and engaging in activities related to the handling of humanitarian, charitable, and volunteer aid.
The seized vehicles will be transferred to a military unit by court decision for the performance of combat missions. The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Mykolaiv region. The verdict has not yet come into legal force.
