The Kremlin said that Ukraine "will pay": Russian strikes were described as a response

The Kremlin said that Ukraine allegedly must “pay the price” for actions over the past months. The current strikes by the Russian army are being described there as a response.

This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of the RF, Dmitry Peskov, who was quoted by the Russian agency Interfax.

“Ukraine will have to pay the price for the actions that took place in recent months. That is happening now,” — said Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin representative also said that Russian forces “are striking the targets they deem appropriate.”

In recent weeks the Kremlin has repeatedly said that Moscow does not see conditions for moving to peace talks. At the same time, on September 23 Dmitry Peskov claimed that Russia remains open to the negotiation process.

Earlier, Peskov also said that the new sanctions by the US do not help resolve the war against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and the US continue to discuss the possibility of trilateral talks involving Russia. According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the American side proposed holding a preparatory meeting in the United Arab Emirates in the Ukraine–US–Russia format.
