Missiles for the Patriot may begin to be produced in Ukraine: what Zelensky and Trump discussed

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky yesterday evening spoke about the results of his meeting with US President Donald Trump in New York during the UN General Assembly. Among the main topics were possible steps to end the war, strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, and the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems in Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelensky described the talks as follows:

I had a positive and productive meeting with President Trump during the UN General Assembly. Both the United States and Ukraine want this Russian war to end before winter. We discussed possible de-escalation steps that could open the way to diplomacy.

The presidents paid special attention to strengthening Ukraine’s air defense ahead of the winter period. Ukrainian and American teams continue to work on the possibility of starting production in Ukraine of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems.

Another issue in the talks was a winter air defense package for Ukraine. Before the meeting the Office of the President of Ukraine noted that the parties plan to discuss additional air defense systems and licensed production of missiles for Patriot.
