During the truce established for the humanitarian operation in Oleshky, there was no sharp increase in the number of evacuation requests from Kherson. During this period, 76 people were evacuated from the community, while some residents began returning to the city.

As part of the humanitarian operation, the Defense Forces evacuated 167 people from the right bank of Kherson Oblast. As the General Staff noted, the route ran along mined and damaged roads.

The plane that last transported residents of occupied Oleshky arrived in Belarus on October 31. Those evacuees who decided to return to Ukraine traveled from there to government-controlled territory and crossed the border in Chernihiv Oblast.

The oldest evacuee was 94 years old, while the youngest was a little over a year old. Their pets also left with them, including dogs, cats, a parrot, and a raccoon.

It later became clear why a direct evacuation route from occupied Oleshky to Kherson across the Dnipro was not considered: such a route could have weakened Ukraine’s defenses. The military categorically opposed this option and warned against demining the area.

In addition, the more than five days of the truce made it possible to repatriate the bodies of those killed in Oleshky. They included Ukrainian military personnel and civilians.
