Ukrainian forces continue the offensive in the north of the Donetsk region as part of operation “Vivaldi”. Over the past week the Defense Forces of Ukraine advanced and liberated a number of settlements.

The course of the operation was described on air at “Suspilne Studio” by the chief of staff and deputy commander of the Third Army Corps, Petro Horbatenko.

After the official confirmation of the liberation of Serednie, Ukrainian units also cleared another five settlements:

Korovyi Yar;
Novoselivka;
Yarova;
Oleksandrivka;
Rai-Oleksandrivka.

At the same time, the names of several other liberated villages are not being disclosed by the military yet. According to Petro Horbatenko, this allows them to take advantage of the fact that the Russian command misjudges the situation on this stretch of the front.

“There are also other liberated villages, but we are not naming them because we cannot afford not to take advantage of the enemy’s stupidity and the fact that he is deceiving himself. So we have to keep some things secret,” — explained Petro Horbatenko.

Corps units on the Lyman direction continue to carry out the tasks of the first stage of the operation. Losses of the Russian army in killed, wounded, and captured have already exceeded the initial expectations of the Ukrainian command.

“Over the week we also continued to advance. We will report new details about the conduct of the operation and new results regarding its successes in the near future. We continue to move. What has been announced is a single figure, and it will increase over time,” — stated Petro Horbatenko.

Some information about further advances and the liberated settlements is not being published for security reasons. New official data on the results of the operation are expected to appear shortly.

According to the deputy commander of the corps, Russian forces in this area are disorganized and suffering significant losses. To hold back the Ukrainian advance, the Russian command is trying to redeploy additional forces there, including special forces units.

“The enemy in this sector is broken and disorganized. He tries to send special forces units there to close the breach, simply grinding them into ‘meat’ and achieving no success,” — emphasized Petro Horbatenko.

At the same time, Russian troops continue to use tactics of mass assaults and strike rear cities in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions.

“The Russians’ tactics have not really changed. These are simply ‘meat’ assaults, as well as massive strikes on rear areas, especially on large populated settlements with many civilians,” — summed up Petro Horbatenko.

Operation “Vivaldi” in the Donbas was launched by the Third Army Corps.
