In Odesa, a man with a pistol robbed a passerby of a chain worth 150 hryvnias
The attacker was detained at home for an hour
In the Prymorskyi district of Odesa a man, threatening with a pistol, took from a 22-year-old passerby a chain with a pendant and then fled. The attack occurred late last week near a supermarket.
According to the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, law enforcement officers located the attacker within an hour after the victim’s report. A 27-year-old resident of Odesa was detained at his place of residence.
The man’s jewelry was seized. It turned out to be costume jewelry, valued at 150 hryvnias. Police also found a weapon resembling a blank-firing pistol. According to the investigation, the detainee discarded it on the way; the item is being sent for examination.
Investigators have charged the man with robbery committed under martial law. This concerns part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The court chose a preventive measure of detention without the right to post bail. If found guilty, the suspect may face up to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues.
