NMT-2026 showed a gap: Lyceum No. 58 is at the top, while No. 40 and the school named after Olzhych are significantly lower
Lyceum No. 58 made it into the top three in Mykolaiv: how the standings of institutions in the Korabelnyi District have changed
The educational portal Education.ua has updated its school rankings based on the results of NMT-2026. Among 26 institutions in Mykolaiv that made the list, the best result in the Korabelnyi District was shown by Mykolaiv Lyceum No.58 — it took 3rd place in the city and 4th in the region.
The ranking is not an official ranking of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. It was compiled by the Education.ua portal based on the official NMT results, using its own methodology. The list included institutions with upper grades where at least 5 students took the testing and together completed at least 15 tests.
The ranking score is 85% dependent on the average NMT result and 15% on the number of tests taken by students. Therefore, an institution’s ranking score differs from the average score of its graduates. Education.ua ranking methodology
Top ten lyceums in Mykolaiv
According to the Education.ua ranking, the first 10 places among Mykolaiv institutions were distributed as follows:

The first place in Mykolaiv and the region remained with Mykolaiv Lyceum named after Professor M. Aleksandrov. The average score of its 49 NMT participants was 158.08. In the national ranking the institution took 149th place.
How the lyceums of the Korabelnyi District performed
Three educational institutions of the Korabelnyi District made it into the ranking. According to the dynamics indicators displayed by Education.ua, all of them improved their positions compared to the previous ranking.

Lyceum No.58 rose into the top three
The most notable result among the district’s institutions was demonstrated by Mykolaiv Lyceum No.58
The institution rose:
- in Mykolaiv — from 6th to 3rd place;
- in the region — from 9th to 4th place;
- in Ukraine — from 819th to 422nd place.
The students’ average result increased from 148.89 to 152.11 points, i.e. by 3.22 points. In 2026 NMT was taken by 79 students from the lyceum, who completed a total of 314 tests.
Participants showed the highest average results in physics — 160.67, English — 159.64, and Ukrainian — 157.29 points. The average score in mathematics was 145.55, and in the history of Ukraine — 149.86.
Lyceum No.40 significantly recovered positions
Mykolaiv Lyceum No.40, located on Metalurhiv Street, took 16th place in Mykolaiv, 27th in the region and 2112th in Ukraine.
Compared to previous indicators the institution rose:
- in the city — from 21st to 16th place;
- in the region — from 71st to 27th;
- in Ukraine — from 4302nd to 2112th place.
The average score increased immediately by 5.49 — from 137.24 to 142.73. 76 students took the NMT, which is 10 more than a year earlier. The total number of tests increased from 250 to 299.
Average results of the lyceum: Ukrainian — 144.33, mathematics — 133.77, English — 147.52, history of Ukraine — 145.51, biology — 146.35 points.
Lyceum named after Oleg Olzhych remained last among the district’s institutions
Mykolaiv Lyceum named after Oleg Olzhych on Aivazovskyi Street took 20th place among 26 institutions in Mykolaiv, 45th in the region and 3061st in Ukraine.
The institution improved its city position by 2 steps, the regional — by 8, and the national — by 432 positions. At the same time the average score increased by only 0.35 — to 139.83.
68 students participated in the testing, who completed 260 tests. The average result in Ukrainian was 141.07, in mathematics — 132.19, in English — 147.55, in the history of Ukraine — 140.03 points.
Thus, all three lyceums of the Korabelnyi District moved up in the Education.ua ranking. However, while Lyceum No.58 has already entered the city’s top three, Lyceum No.40 and the Lyceum named after Oleg Olzhych still remain in the lower part of the city table.
At the same time, NMT results cannot fully characterize the quality of an institution’s work. The indicators are influenced by the number of participants, student selection, tutoring, distance learning, family migration and the conditions in which children study during the war.
