On August 12 and 13, the awards were presented by Oleksandr Sienkevych and Heorhiy Reshetilov
On Thursday, August 13, 2026, in the Mykolaiv region, young people engaged in volunteering, civic activity, education, sports, student self-government and implementing their own initiatives were honored. The awards were presented on the occasion of Youth Day, which was celebrated in Ukraine the day before — August 12. The event was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
The ceremony was attended by the acting head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Heorhii Reshetilov, and the first deputy chair of the Mykolaiv Regional Council, Ihor Shcherbyna. Young representatives were recognized for their activity, initiative and contribution to the development of the region.
Acting head of the Mykolaiv RMA Heorhii Reshetilov, addressing those present, emphasized the need to support youth initiatives and to create conditions for the implementation of ideas of the region’s young residents.
“Happy Youth Day! I am confident that the Mykolaiv region has the best youth. We will continue to develop youth initiatives and create opportunities for their implementation. I wish you not to be afraid to bring your ideas to life and to always move forward”, – he said.
During the event, representatives of youth councils, public organizations, student self-government, the education sector, the volunteer movement and sports received awards. They were honored with awards from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, the Mykolaiv Regional Council and the Mykolaiv City Council.
Separately, laureates of the Award for Special Achievements of Youth in the Development of Mykolaiv Oblast in 2026 were honored. The RMA thanked the region’s young residents for their initiative, dedication and willingness to engage in the development of the Mykolaiv region.
At the same time, the city mayor Oleksandr Senkevych congratulated Mykolaiv’s youth a day earlier — August 12, on Youth Day itself. He met with young townspeople, spoke with them and listened to their questions, thoughts, ideas and visions for the city’s future.
The mayor also presented letters of appreciation to active young Mykolaiv residents — volunteers, participants in city and youth projects, authors of their own initiatives, athletes, members of the creative youth and those who represent Mykolaiv in Ukraine and abroad.
In his address, the mayor specifically thanked the young defenders of Ukraine and stressed that youth should directly participate in upcoming changes in Mykolaiv.
“Thank you to everyone who does not stay aside and is ready to do something for Mykolaiv. Especially now, when our country is fighting for its future. And, of course, thank you to our young defenders who are defending Ukraine today. It is thanks to them that we can continue to study, work, meet, plan and develop our city. I wish you not to lose your curiosity, the courage to try new things and the opportunities to implement your ideas. Mykolaiv has a lot of work ahead, and I am convinced that youth must be an active part of these changes”.
